What's different about having ductless HVAC installed?
Ductless HVAC systems have many advantages when compared to standard air conditioners, furnaces, and heat pumps. Namely, you don't need ductwork to get cooling and heating in your home! In this blog, we'll review what's different about how ductless gets put in your home.Ready to learn more? Schedule a free in-home estimate with the Wagner team by contacting us today.
Here's what's different about how ductless HVAC gets installed
#1. You don't need ducts (but homes with them can still get ductless)
Ductless cooling and heating is perfect for homes or buildings without existing ductwork. This includes historic buildings that pre-date modern air conditioning and heating, garages, and commercial buildings. Since ductwork installation can be a major expense for a homeowner or business owner, ductless allows you to access comfort without that step. However, if your home or business currently has ductwork, you can still get ductless installed, either as a replacement for your centralized system or as an addition to it. In the case of the latter, this would be to add extra cooling and heating to select rooms of your home.
#2. You get to pick-and-choose where comfort lives
With central cooling and heating, you more-or-less are going to be sending conditioned (either heating or cooled) air to wherever the ducts take it. You home gets all-around heating or cooling, but it's not quite as customizable as with ductless HVAC systems. With ductless, you can put the indoor units in whatever room you need them to be in. For example, have a family room that's the place for parties, but a craft room that doesn't get used very often? You may choose to put a ductless unit in the living room, but not in the craft room.
#3. Multiple indoor units, one outside unit
Many indoor ductless units can be connected to a single outside unit, which allows you more flexibility in how many ductless units you need for your home.
#4. Wall-mounted for convenience
Most of the ductless HVAC systems we install are wall-mounted, near the top of the wall. Typically, these systems blend in with the surrounding furniture and decor. They're designed to be less noticeable and—this is certainly true for the Mitsubishi systems we install—beautiful and modern. This setup not only prevents you from needing ductwork installation, but provides you with more floorspace for furniture.
